We all know that the Corvette Z06 means business. And for 2006 Chevrolet made some significant improvements on this American sports car icon and they are absolutely well appreciated. I mean it's a magnificent example of engineering, all around. I believe, the best Corvette ever built , up to that point. Just a true marvel and a real bang for the buck value. Lets start with the high-tech carbon-fiber fenders, wheelhouses and floor panels that wrap around the same basic chassis as the previous year, but the aluminum frame and magnesium engine cradle have taken this Corvette to exotic-car levels of advanced vehicle design shaving 50 pounds off the base model's curb weight, a 105-horsepower increase — and a 50-pound weight loss. That 7.0 Liter ( 427 cu. Expect riveting performance. How about sub 4 second 0-60 times and the quarter mile will come up in just shy of 12 seconds at full throttle! ( as per Car and Driver ) And, that's just for a start. The engine is just packed with race technology, from its dry-sump oil lubrication system to its titanium connecting rods and intake valves. It revs to 7,000 rpm with the enthusiasm (and near smoothness) of a Honda engine, yet it pulls harder than the Viper coupe's V10. And, it delivers an average of 20 mpg. With progressive brake-pedal action and the short 108 feet the car needs to stop from 60 mph will suggest this car is an extension of the drivers will. And, by the way, the supercar tires on this Corvette can produce over 1.0g of lateral grip. They are also certified for 200-plus mph and this Z06 is said to top out at 198 mph. Bottom line, on smooth pavement, the Z06 feels as planted and responsive as anything I've driven with fenders and a license plate! And, this one is built in the U. No disappointments here my friends. This is a “ special order” direct from bowling green, kentucky and it's absolutely spectacular ! This is a rare opportunity to buy a “special order” 1996 corvette with the limited edition (rpo lt4 ) engine ( rated 330 h. Yes, rated at 330 horsepower, which is 30 horsepower over the lt1 engine, the lt4 had higher engine compression (10. 8:1 versus 10. 4:1), a new aluminum head design, crane roller rocker arms, a revised camshaft profile, and other significant engine tweaks. And, this factory designed exhaust sounds like heaven with a growl. The lt4’s engine redline was increased to 6,300 rpm (versus the lt1 which redlined at 5,700 rpm). As a result, all lt4 corvettes were equipped with an 8,000 rpm tachometer (versus lt1 corvette’s which were equipped with a measly 6,000 rpm tachometer. And, this one has it! This was one nasty v-8 featuring 90 degree overhead valve with double overhead camshafts, and for good measure and better performance this 5. 7 literas for the suspension, well, its all independent front and rear featuring sla forged aluminum upper and lower control arms and steering knuckle and in the rear, a 5 link design with tow and camber adjustment. There was also a transverse monoleaf spring, steel tie rods and stabilizer in the rear. Now , that's a lot of technology,even for 1996. Bottom line, the car handles great! Well, there were 17,167 1996 corvette coupes built. Of that only 6359 were built with 6 speed manual transmissions ( mn6 ) and only 3917 were built in black ( 41 ) and only 751 were produced with the ( lt4 ) engine as a special order from the factory. Even less were produced with the light tan ( 643 ) leather interior. So, not a lot of these cars out there. This car runs great!, everything works as it should and there is a shine on this ebony black beauty that is a real plus for eye appeal. There is not a mark on this car! Obviously, it has been well cared for and pampered over the years and the carfax is squeaky clean. Don't let this one get away. And, a very few of these vehicle were then outfitted with a special performance package by the infamous engineering firm of slp ( street legal performance ). Established in 1987, slp engineering produced the factory authorized performance modifications for the vehicle in their montreal, canada plant as they were only minutes away from the chevrolet production facility. From there, the special equipped vehicles were shipped directly to the individual dealerships around the country where their new owners had been patiently waiting for these special ordered vehicles. Be sure to take a close look at the window sticker and the documentation i have provided, it's all there. This vehicle is, first of all, very rare! It is a 1997 camaro z28/ss with 30th anniversary appearance package ( z4c ) and the z28 preferred equipment group ( 1sj ) the slp option package ( r7t ) with optional stainless steel performance exhaust system ( brought power up to 310 h. P.) and a very rare six speed transmission with hurst shifter. And, it only has a mere pampered 12,980 original miles and all the documents from day 1 to prove it. That means that of the 3038 camaro ss built that year, only 957 were built with the 30th anniversary package ( this car is # 761 ) and only 240 of those were coupes and only 167 of those were six speed manual and less than half of those were modified by slp engineering. So, this is one very rare camaro ss anniversary 30th anniversary with slp package indeed! And, i have all the documentation to stipulate just that. No stories here my friends this is the one!
